CORPORA: 45-425 million words each: free online access

CORPORA: 45-425 million words each: free online access:

There's also access to the Google Books Corpus of 155 billion words! As mentioned in class.... for example we could compare "native American" with "American Indian" to see which is used more today....

Have a nice weekend
james

"These corpora were created by Mark Davies, Professor of Linguistics at Brigham Young University. They have many different uses, including: finding out how native speakers actually speak and write; looking at language variation and change; finding the frequency of words, phrases, and collocates; and designing authentic language teaching materials and resources."

Lipdub

Definition by Wikipedia :
A lip dub is a type of video that combines lip synching and audio dubbing to make a music video. It is made by filming individuals or a group of people lip synching while listening to a song or any recorded audio then dubbing over it in post editing with the original audio of the song. There is often some form of mobile audio device used such as an MP3 player. Often they look like simple music videos, although many involve a lot of preparation and production. Lip dubs can be done in a single unedited shot that often travels through different rooms and situations within a building. They have become popular with the advent of mass participatory video content sites like YouTube.

Why is Smith a Women's College? | Smith College

Why is Smith a Women's College? | Smith College:

Maybe you want to have a look at our partners' school.

Smith College was founded at a time when there were practically no choices for women who wanted an education equal to that available to men. The idea of such a college was a radical notion in 1871, but its success has been dramatic and undeniable.

Welcome
